Natural pigments and gouache on hand made paper

Property roads normally follow the boundary of the property itself but also around paddocks and to water sites.  These maps are drawn by property owners for directions to the grader driver.
These are the impetus to the monoprint series 'moving in and out of his life'. Monoprinted areas consist of all organic material found on these sites; red oxides, melaleuca (paper bark), charcoal, and ochres, crushed, boiled, blended......

The natural sediments used on the plates transfer onto the paper in an irregular fashion and with each press run, some sediment areas are taken away, others  form layers like an accretion of the earths surface.  I also use carbon paper for transferring the drawn line and use found hard objects such as a spherical copper float to make these impressions.
In summary, the print making approach I take, is mimicking processes used by natural or human made interventions of land above and below the earths surface.
