Maranoa River of sand

This work was created in 2009 after witnessing the Maranoa River coming down to fill its banks which normally is a dry sand bed on it's surface. I thought it was apt to start my blog from here as the Maranoa is at it's record heights this week. The height has reached 30'10" close to where these photos were taken.
The paper was soaked overnight in water holes on the Maranoa, staining the work in places and brought back to the studio where inks and gouache were added. The work on paper is a reflection on profound events that shape, change and effect our lives.
