Litho (stone) graph (writting)

The beginning of a series of lithographs; drawing on stone, drawing the connections of ephemeral surface waters to the deep waters of the Basins.  Tusche, carbon and rubbing crayon are used on the limestones. experimentations of oxides, ochres and other found dyes are poured onto the paper before printing.

What is the purpose of lithography when you can draw the same on paper? I'm not interested in editioning multiple images but I am interested in experimenting with combinations of these images with different papers and the blending with other materials. Drawing on stone is also a different experience to paper or canvas. Its hard surface allows the liquids to sit and dry as applied, sometimes slowly moving untill it levels itself on the stone. The direct application of drawing materials on the lithographic stone and the ability to reconfigure the drawing  during the process is what appealed to my art making methods.

I am also in the process of filming the drawing on the graining racks.
